The Sundance Film Festival, Park City’s annual movie showcase since the late 70’s played host to Patty Jenkins new TNT series I Am the Night, and The Hollywood Reporter spoke with the director on where she would like to see Wonder Woman 3 set:
“I’m not planning to put it in the past again, because where are you going to go? You have to go forward. It’s definitely a contemporary story. That’s all I can say. Where we put it and how that gets figured out, I haven’t totally nailed down.”
The Hollywood Reporter then asked Jenkins if she would be interested in directing a Justice League film, she responded:
“The Justice League movie, I find those movies to be extremely challenging. I think they are fantastic when they are well done. But taking on all of those characters at the same time in the timeline … I sort of hope that we don’t do a Justice League movie for a little while, because I’m excited to see all of their movies. I want to see Aquaman 2, I want to see Flash. Never say never, but I think everyone should have their moment to shine.”
I get where Patty’s coming from, there are so many great DC superheroes we have yet to see on screen that deserve their shining moment. There is no need for Warner Bros to rush into another Justice League film any time soon.
Zack Snyder’s original plan was to have the characters introduced in Batman V Superman to have their own solo films whilst he worked on the main arc of his DCEU, but Warner Bros. had different plans.
If Warner choose to do another Justice League, Patty would definitely be my first choice to direct.
