Marvel have found their screenwriter to pen the upcoming Blade reboot.

New York playwright Stacy Osei-Kuffour, who was the story editor and writer on HBO Max’s Watchmen will pen the script, with Mahershala Ali starring in the titular role.

Osei-Kuffour will become the first black female writer to work on a Marvel feature film.

Mahershala Ali (Green Book) is taking over the vampire killing reigns from Wesley Snipes, who starred in a trilogy of Blade films between 1999 and 2004.

Eric Brooks, aka Blade is a half-human/half-vampire, “Daywalker” who has honed his abilities to hunt down the undead.

The attention will now turned to who Marvel will hire to direct. No names have been mentioned.

I reckon Marvel/Disney will be eyeing Dope filmmaker Rick Famuyiwa, having worked with the director on The Mandalorian.

Famuyiwa’s name will be on plenty of director fancasts.

Thinking outside the box for another potential director, Stefon Bristol is a name that comes to mind.

Bristol directed and co-wrote Netflix’s See You Yesterday, a film that follows an ambitious science prodigy, who uses her capabilities to create a time machine in order to save her brother who has been killed by a police officer.

I’m interested to see who will end up in the directors chair
