Superman Reboot in the works with JJ Abrams and Ta-Nehisi Coates

Superman has returned to the silver screen! With JJ Abrams tapped to produce and award winning author Ta-Nehisi Coates tapped to pen the script, a new Superman film is on the horizon.

It is unclear who will be tapped to dawn the rep cape, but it is being reported that Warner Brothers is looking for a black actor to star in the role. This means the reboot might possibly introduce the Kryptonian, Val Zod.

Coates is no newbie to the superhero world, writing for Marvel comics in 2016 and 2019. First on their Black Panther title then on their Captain America title. Coates is also a journalist who has written for publications such as the Atlantic.

This is also isn’t Abrams first foray into the superhero world either. Back in 2004 JJ Abrams was set to direct the unreleased Superman Flyby. And currently Abrams is at work producing a Justice League Dark series.

There is no release date as of yet for this reboot and a director has yet to be attached. It is also unclear the status of Henry Cavill’s future in the role. But with the upcoming Flash film, that will supposedly be a reset for the DC universe, Warner Bros seems to be ushering in a new era for their cinematic DC heroes.
