Critics are Calling Joaquin Phoenix’s ‘JOKER’ a Dark and Twisted Masterpiece



Todd Phillips Joker premiered at the Venice International Film Festival earlier today, and the first reviews coming in from critics are hailing it as a masterpiece. With others suggesting that Joaquin Phoenix should get an Oscar for the role.

Phoenix stars as the Joker aka Arthur Fleck, a failed stand-up comedian, set in the 1980’s, who turns to a life of crime and chaos in Gotham City, slowly rising to become a frightening legend.

The film also stars the likes of Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz, Frances Conroy and Brett Cullen.

There has been a buzz around the film ever since the first trailer dropped, the most recent once was released on Thursday giving fans another hint of what to expect when the film releases October 4, 2019.

Those lucky film lovers, critics and journalists in attendance at today premiere took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the movie. See below:
