Oscar-winning actresses Charlize Theron and Helen Mirren are set to return for Fast & Furious 9.
Theron and Mirren made their Fast & Furious debuts in 2017’s Fate of the Furious, the eighth film in the franchise. Theron played villain Cypher, whilst Mirren played Magdalene Shaw, the mother of Deckard (Jason Statham) and Owen (Luke Evans). Star and producer Vin Diesel unveiled the duo’s return on Instagram.
With the return of Magdalene Shaw, does that mean Statham or Evans will return in their roles? Let’s hope they at least grant Mirren’s wish to be a driver in this, although she may be given that opportunity in spin-off Hobbs and Shaw which is released next month.
In Vin’s Instagram post, he also added that newcomer John Senna, known to the rest of the world as John Cena would completely “shine in this movie.” I actually believe Diesel’s words here, Cena’s acting has got a lot better over the last few years, check out Blockers—he’s hilarious.
Anyone else still gutted that Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson won’t be returning for this one?
Fast & Furious 9 is set to hit screens on May 22, 2020.
